LaToya S. Asher, DPT
LaToya S. Asher, DPT received her doctorate of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2007. She obtained her Masters of Physical Therapy at University of Maryland at Baltimore in 2004. Since graduating, Dr. Asher has focused her practice in outpatient orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. Over the years, she has enjoyed working with a variety of patients, including college athletes, geriatrics, weekend warriors to name a few. Given her background in ballet and work with dancers, she is most recently pursuing her interest in women's health. When Dr. Asher is not researching her next continuing education course, she is busy enjoying being a new mother of a 26 week old baby girl. Her other interests are spending quality time with her husband and family, picnics at the park, Pilates and shopping.
Rohana Chettiar, MPT
Rohana graduated from Father Muller Medical College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Physical therapy degree. She then worked for 2 years in a multi-speciality hospital and an outpatient clinic where she treated patients with cardio-thoracic, orthopedic and neurological complications in acute and sub-acute settings. Her inquisitiveness to gain complete knowledge, understanding and skill led her to achieve her Maters of Science in Rehabilitation from Loma Linda University in California in 2016. Rohana enjoys performing manual therapy and taping techniques to assist with patient recovery. She was also doing research in Loma Linda University and Father Muller Medical College. When she isn't working, Rohana likes to go shopping, listen to music, paint and watch movies.
Carlene Jerome, PT
Carlene Jerome is a native of the Washington metropolitan area. She is a graduate from Hood College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She also attended Howard University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (Magna Cum Laude) and Master's of Physical Therapy. She has been a practicing physical therapist for 13 years. She has experience in treating a wide range of conditions, which include total joint replacements, various sports injuries, a variety of tendonitis, post surgical conditions including rotator cuff repair, cervical fusions, and lumber laminectomies. She also enjoys performing manual techniques when necessary to assist in patient recovery.
Jim Luna, LPTA
Jim Luna has been a PTA since 2000 when he earned his AAS at Northern Virginia Community College. Jim has also extended his knowledge base by attending numerous continuing education classes related to Sports Injuries, Manual Therapy and Weight Training.Jim is currently treating patients at our Clinton Center.
Abhay Nagaraj, PT
Abhay Nagaraj joined Active Physical Therapy, Clinton, MD in November 2016. He graduated with a Masters of Science in Rehabilitation from Loma Linda University, California in September 2016. He pursued his Bachelors in Physical Therapy from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science in 2014. Abhay has experience working in India at Amrita Health Care, an outpatient setting and also has experience in Home Health Care treating patients with Neurology, Cardio-Pulmonary and Orthopedic deficits.
He is a certified manual therapist from the Federation of Indian Manual Therapist and has attended various hands-on Orthopedic and Neurology courses. Research is his passion and has research publications under his name for Orthopedic research from Loma Linda University. Abhay loves to serve the community and has taken part in community services with the Indian Red Cross Society and the Starkey Foundation, USA. He is an active sports person and he is a state level basketball player. He likes to read research articles to update his knowledge on the current trends in Physical Therapy and also likes basketball, soccer and cricket.
Sujay Nair, DPT
Sujay Nair has been a part of Active Physical Therapy (Clinton) since May 2016. He graduated with Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University, California in March 2016. He has 2 years of work experience in India as a consulting Physical Therapist in a multi specialty hospital after he completed his bachelors from D.Y. Patil University, India in 2012. His quest for knowledge led him to undertake further certification in Neuro Dynamic Solutions, Mulligan concept of manual therapy in India and Kinetics therapy in Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) from University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht (Amsterdam). The dynamism of his profession beguiles him and to hone his skills, he intends to enroll in different courses to enhance his hands on techniques. He wants to be actively involved in promoting healthy lifestyle that ultimately will drive his ability to help people return to the activities of life they enjoy most.
He enjoys playing and watching cricket and soccer and takes pleasure in traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Arpit Sheth, DPT
Arpit earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University, California in June 2015. He has previously obtained a Masters in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom in 2012.
Arpit's emphasis is utilizing manual interventions in conjunction with therapeutic exercises and postural corrections to achieve improved pain-free mobility and function. He believes in an individualized approach for each patient that is geared towards that patient's goals. He is trained under Kinetacore to become Certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling (Level 1). Arpit also completed Manual Therapy courses including Maitland and specialized in Kinesio Taping techniques.
Arpit is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Maryland Physical Therapy Association and Orthopaedic Section of the APTA. Prior to joining Active Physical Therapy, Arpit had global experience of working in United Kingdom and India. Arpit believes in continuing education and the advancement of his profession through training and research. He is currently working towards his training to become a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). He has two research articles published in international journals for his work in the field of health and physical therapy. In his free time, Arpit likes to spend quality time with friends and family, leisure traveling, watch movies and stay updated with current world affairs.
Hema Venkata N Rajesh Vemuri, DPT
Hema Graduated with a Bachelors in Physical Therapy from NTR University, India in 2006. He continued his education and graduated in Exercise Physiology from SEMO, MO in 2013. He then pursued his Post-Professional DPT from Touro College in NY to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in the Spring of 2017. Hema is certified in Lumbo-Pelvic Integration and wants to be a Board certified Sports Physical Therapist in the future. He loves to serve his community and is an active blood donor for the American Red Cross. In his spare time, Hema loves to write, and read thrillers.
Trisha Whittaker, MOT, OTR/L, CHT
Certified Hand Therapist
Trisha has over 8 years experience as a Registered Occupational Therapist. She is a graduate of Saint Francis University for both her bachelor and master degrees. In 2010-2011, Trisha attended Drexel University and received a certificate in the Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation. She then received her Certification in Hand Therapy in 2012. Trisha has experience in out-patient, acute and sub-acute rehabilitation. She has experience in working with a variety of ages and diagnoses.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, dancing, and watching movies.
