Clinton Center

  • LaToya S. Asher, DPT

    LaToya S. Asher, DPT received her doctorate of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2007. She obtained her Masters of Physical Therapy at University of Maryland at Baltimore in 2004. Since graduating, Dr. Asher has focused her practice in outpatient orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. Over the years, she has enjoyed working with a variety of patients, including college athletes, geriatrics, weekend warriors to name a few. Given her background in ballet and work with dancers, she is most recently pursuing her interest in women's health. When Dr. Asher is not researching her next continuing education course, she is busy enjoying being a new mother of a 26 week old baby girl. Her other interests are spending quality time with her husband and family, picnics at the park, Pilates and shopping.

  • Rohana Chettiar, MPT

    Rohana graduated from Father Muller Medical College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Physical therapy degree. She then worked for 2 years in a multi-speciality hospital and an outpatient clinic where she treated patients with cardio-thoracic, orthopedic and neurological complications in acute and sub-acute settings. Her inquisitiveness to gain complete knowledge, understanding and skill led her to achieve her Maters of Science in Rehabilitation from Loma Linda University in California in 2016. Rohana enjoys performing manual therapy and taping techniques to assist with patient recovery. She was also doing research in Loma Linda University and Father Muller Medical College. When she isn't working, Rohana likes to go shopping, listen to music, paint and watch movies.

  • Carlene Jerome, PT

    Carlene Jerome is a native of the Washington metropolitan area. She is a graduate from Hood College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She also attended Howard University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (Magna Cum Laude) and Master's of Physical Therapy. She has been a practicing physical therapist for 13 years. She has experience in treating a wide range of conditions, which include total joint replacements, various sports injuries, a variety of tendonitis, post surgical conditions including rotator cuff repair, cervical fusions, and lumber laminectomies. She also enjoys performing manual techniques when necessary to assist in patient recovery.

  • Jim Luna, LPTA

    Jim Luna has been a PTA since 2000 when he earned his AAS at Northern Virginia Community College. Jim has also extended his knowledge base by attending numerous continuing education classes related to Sports Injuries, Manual Therapy and Weight Training.Jim is currently treating patients at our Clinton Center.

  • Melissa Luttrell, OT

    Hand Therapy Specialist

    Melissa earned her B.S. in Exercise Science from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011. She moved from Birmingham, Alabama to Maryland to earn her M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Towson University in 2015. After falling in love with Annapolis, she chose to stay in Maryland. When she isn't working, Melissa enjoys reading, playing tennis, baking and dancing.

  • Abhay Nagaraj, PT

    Abhay Nagaraj joined Active Physical Therapy, Clinton, MD in November 2016. He graduated with a Masters of Science in Rehabilitation from Loma Linda University, California in September 2016. He pursued his Bachelors in Physical Therapy from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science in 2014. Abhay has experience working in India at Amrita Health Care, an outpatient setting and also has experience in Home Health Care treating patients with Neurology, Cardio-Pulmonary and Orthopedic deficits.

    He is a certified manual therapist from the Federation of Indian Manual Therapist and has attended various hands-on Orthopedic and Neurology courses. Research is his passion and has research publications under his name for Orthopedic research from Loma Linda University. Abhay loves to serve the community and has taken part in community services with the Indian Red Cross Society and the Starkey Foundation, USA. He is an active sports person and he is a state level basketball player. He likes to read research articles to update his knowledge on the current trends in Physical Therapy and also likes basketball, soccer and cricket.

  • Sujay Nair, DPT

    Sujay Nair has been a part of Active Physical Therapy (Clinton) since May 2016. He graduated with Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University, California in March 2016. He has 2 years of work experience in India as a consulting Physical Therapist in a multi specialty hospital after he completed his bachelors from D.Y. Patil University, India in 2012. His quest for knowledge led him to undertake further certification in Neuro Dynamic Solutions, Mulligan concept of manual therapy in India and Kinetics therapy in Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) from University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht (Amsterdam). The dynamism of his profession beguiles him and to hone his skills, he intends to enroll in different courses to enhance his hands on techniques. He wants to be actively involved in promoting healthy lifestyle that ultimately will drive his ability to help people return to the activities of life they enjoy most.

    He enjoys playing and watching cricket and soccer and takes pleasure in traveling and spending time with family and friends.

  • Arpit Sheth, DPT

    Arpit earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University, California in June 2015. He has previously obtained a Masters in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom in 2012.

    Arpit's emphasis is utilizing manual interventions in conjunction with therapeutic exercises and postural corrections to achieve improved pain-free mobility and function. He believes in an individualized approach for each patient that is geared towards that patient's goals. He is trained under Kinetacore to become Certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling (Level 1). Arpit also completed Manual Therapy courses including Maitland and specialized in Kinesio Taping techniques.

    Arpit is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Maryland Physical Therapy Association and Orthopaedic Section of the APTA. Prior to joining Active Physical Therapy, Arpit had global experience of working in United Kingdom and India. Arpit believes in continuing education and the advancement of his profession through training and research. He is currently working towards his training to become a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). He has two research articles published in international journals for his work in the field of health and physical therapy. In his free time, Arpit likes to spend quality time with friends and family, leisure traveling, watch movies and stay updated with current world affairs.

  • Hema Venkata N Rajesh Vemuri, DPT

    Hema Graduated with a Bachelors in Physical Therapy from NTR University, India in 2006. He continued his education and graduated in Exercise Physiology from SEMO, MO in 2013. He then pursued his Post-Professional DPT from Touro College in NY to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in the Spring of 2017. Hema is certified in Lumbo-Pelvic Integration and wants to be a Board certified Sports Physical Therapist in the future. He loves to serve his community and is an active blood donor for the American Red Cross. In his spare time, Hema loves to write, and read thrillers.

  • Trisha Whittaker, MOT, OTR/L, CHT

    Certified Hand Therapist

    Trisha has over 8 years experience as a Registered Occupational Therapist. She is a graduate of Saint Francis University for both her bachelor and master degrees. In 2010-2011, Trisha attended Drexel University and received a certificate in the Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation. She then received her Certification in Hand Therapy in 2012. Trisha has experience in out-patient, acute and sub-acute rehabilitation. She has experience in working with a variety of ages and diagnoses.

    In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, dancing, and watching movies.

Frederick Center

  • Lynn Brewer, MPT

    Lynn Brewer, MPT earned her Master of Physical Therapy in 2001 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and an undergraduate degree from Shepherd College in 1998. Lynn has extensive clinical experience in the outpatient setting serving local communities.

    Lynn has been instrumental in developing breast cancer rehabilitation programs, and has published a professional research article on the topic. She also has experience in treating a variety of diagnoses including urinary incontinence, vertigo disorders, balance disturbances, and a variety of orthopedic conditions. She is a national and MD state chapter member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and belongs to the neurology, women’s health, and orthopedic special sections.

  • Lucas McCollum, LPTA, ACSM, USAT Level 1 Coach

    Lucas graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Nutrition. He played four years of Varsity Baseball for Jacksonville State University Gamecocks as a pitcher. After college, Lucas played two years of Independent League Baseball for the Selma Clover Leafs in the Southeastern League. He continued his education at Carroll County Community College in the Physical Therapist Assistant program, now working full-time as a LPTA. Lucas likes competitively participating in Triathlons, Cycling, and Running Races. In 2008, 2009, and 2013 Lucas competed in the prestigious Ford Ironman World Championship and The Foster Grant 70.3 Ironman World Championship. He has also competed in over 70 multi-sport events all over the world which includes representing Team USA for the ITU Long Course World Championship for the sport of duathlon and triathlon.

    Lucas is a member of the highly talented Snapple Triathlon Elite Team and races in the Elite/Am division for the sport of triathlon and duathlon. He has over a dozen overall victories and has set course records at the sprint, Olympic and half-iron distance triathlons. According to USAT Lucas is ranked in the Top 10 in the USA and #1 in Maryland for triathlon and duathlon and has made All-American status the past 8 years.

    Lucas specializes and enjoys treating sports related injuries from swimming, cycling, running, and pitching. He has completed multiple continuing education courses for treating multisport athletes and helping them achieve peak performance. Most recently he completed Orthopaedic Management of the Runner, Cyclist, and Swimmer. As well as treating patients with overuse injuries from sports, Lucas also is certified as a Clinical Exercise Specialist and Certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine and helps people from all levels of ability achieve their fitness goals. Lucas currently works with athletes in many sports to develop overall strength, speed, agility, endurance, weight loss, and flexibility.

    In 2014 Lucas was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Clinical Instruction by Carroll Community College.

  • Andrea Stone, DPT

    Andrea Stone graduated from University of Maryland, College Park, with her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology in 2004. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Southern California in 2009.

    Andrea has extensive clinical experience treating post-operative and non-surgical spinal pain, working under neurosurgeons and physiatrists for the the past seven years before joining Active Physical Therapy. Andrea has a strong interest in manual therapy, and post operative rehabilitation. She continues to further her clinical skills through continuing education and mentoring programs with other therapists.

  • Jennifer Wittich, LPTA

    Jennifer graduated from the University of Dallas in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and a concentration in International Studies. She was employed in the political sphere in Washington, DC for three years before relocating to Texas and discovering her passion for working in a rehabilitative environment. Jennifer attended Houston Community College graduating with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Physical Therapy and earning her license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2012. She was employed at the Woodlands Health care clinic in Texas for two and a half years before relocating back to Maryland. Jennifer has experience treating a variety of patients particularly those presenting with neurological disorders and intervertebral disc disorders.

Gaithersburg/Germantown Center

  • Kareen (Kay) Villamore, PT

    Kareen graduated from the University of East Raymon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 2006. Kay enjoys traveling. In her free time, Kay plays basketball, badminton, and volleyball and likes to do Zumba. Kay was a member of her university’s performing arts club. She is fluent in Tagalog and proficient in Spanish. Kay likes to treat patients with back and knee conditions.

Hagerstown Center

  • Kyle Foltz, LPTA

    Kyle earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Salisbury University in Exercise Science with a minor in Athletic Coaching. He earned his Physical Therapist Assistant Associates Degree from Carroll Community College in 2014, while becoming a licensed PTA in 2015. Kyle has participated in baseball, basketball, and soccer while growing up in Brunswick, MD. He was an assistant coach to the 2012 1A State Champions for Boys Soccer. Kyle has coached all age groups with baseball from Little League to Senior Legion, along with the Frederick Hustlers.

    Kyle is our Work Hardening/ Work Conditioning Specialist at the Frederick, MD clinic. He also enjoys treating athletic injuries to ensure optimal recovery for athletic performance. Kyle has been with the company since he was an intern while attending Salisbury. He continued on with Active PT as a PT technician while earning his associates degree, and has been employed as a licensed PTA since February 2015.

  • Marlon Ming, DPT

    Marlon Ming, is a licensed outpatient orthopedic physical therapist that specializes in sports medicine, general orthopedics (i.e: sprains, tendonitis, bursitis), joint replacements, and neck & lower back pain. Marlon earned his doctor of physical therapy degree at the University of Buffalo in 2007. He completed his physical therapy residency at the world renowned Cincinnati Sport Medicine, where he worked closely with the rehab team an orthopedic surgeons associated with the Cincinnati Bengals. With close to 10 years of physical therapy experience, he is very proficient in evaluating and treating most musculoskeletal disorders, and has taken a wide variety of continue-education courses including Graston, & NAIOMT.

    When Marlon is not in the office, he enjoys outdoor activities with his wife and son, photography, gardening, and exercising.

Hyattsville / Takoma Park Center

  • Aiman Eltahir, PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS

    Aiman completed his bachelor of sciences in Athletic training from Virginia Commonwealth University and Frostburg State University, and his doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University, in Arizona. Aiman has a belief in education as a means to improve quality of life. He has had the opportunity to work at multiple settings, with diverse athletic populations from collegiate to professional. He is motivated to help patients achieve their highest potential as they recover from acute to chronic injuries.
  • Yonas Habte, DPT

    Yonas received his Bachelor's from University of Maryland, College Park in 2006 and he went on to receive his doctorate in Physical Therapy from George Washington University. He is the newest member of our clinical team and is based at our Laurel Clinic. His hobbies include playing golf, tennis, and basketball.

  • Darshi Malkan, MPT

    Darshi is a licensed Physical Therapist. She completed her Masters in Health and Rehabilitation Science, with specialization in Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy in 2014, from the University of Pittsburgh. She had 2 years of work experience as a PT in an out-patient and a hospital set up in India. She practices a progressive, personalized and goal oriented approach for every patient. Darshi with her colleagues provides an encouraging environment to the patients.

  • William Mosquera, LPTA

    Williams completed his studies at the Montgomery College PTA Program in 2015. He has had the opportunity to work in a variety of surgical post op and sports outpatient settings. William is trilingual (English, Spanish, French) and believes in breaking communication barriers as a way to connect the world. He sees himself as more of a teacher than a physical repairman. Outside of work, William enjoys weightlifting, playing competitive volleyball, and basketball.

Laurel Center

  • Aiman Eltahir, PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS

    Aiman completed his bachelor of sciences in Athletic training from Virginia Commonwealth University and Frostburg State University, and his doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T.   • Tammy Ghimire, LPTA

    Tammy Ghimire is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. She graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College with an AAS degree in PT Assisting in 2010. She completed a BA in Spanish and sociology in Minnesota prior to this, later changing course to follow her passion in providing PT services. Tammy is proficient in oral and written Spanish. Although she has experience in multiple PT settings, she has practiced most in outpatient orthopedic clinics. Tammy enjoys hiking, yoga, reading, and keeping up with research to continually advance her PT care skills. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), APTA Orthopedic Special Section, and Maryland Physical Therapy Association. She is currently seeing patients in our Laurel office.

  • Yonas Habte, DPT

    Yonas received his Bachelor's from University of Maryland, College Park in 2006 and he went on to receive his doctorate in Physical Therapy from George Washington University. He is the newest member of our clinical team and is based at our Laurel Clinic. His hobbies include playing golf, tennis, and basketball.

  • Aryanka Hosbetkar BPT,DPT

    Aryanka Hosbetkar joined Active Physical Therapy in May 2016. She completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University in March 2016. She has been practicing physical therapy for 6 years. She started her career after graduating in 2008 with Bachelors in physical therapy and was appointed consulting PT at Back Rx Spine Care (India). She also had the opportunity to conduct presentations in different languages on “Ergonomics and its Importance” to some of the very well-known entities in the corporate sector and was favored by the audience while working there. She set out to start on her own and co-founded a clinic under the name of “Centre for Advanced Physiotherapy’’ (CAP) in 2011. She undertook further certification in the McKenzie and Mulligan techniques to enhance her manual techniques. She believes in holistic approach towards good health and educates her patients of the same. She loves playing different sports, traveling, reading, hiking and cycling in her spare time.

  • Jane Lydia Monis, DPT

    Jane Lydia Monis, DPT is a Doctorate in Physical Therapy graduate from Loma Linda University, CA , and has been a Physical Therapist since 2014. She completed her Bachelors in Physiotherapy from RGUHS, India and previously worked as a Physical Therapist in Sahus Physiotherapy Centre in Bangalore, India, where she treated a wide range of orthopedic and neurological cases.

    Jane is an American Institute of Balance Certified Vestibular Therapist and a certified Manual Therapist through the Federation of Indian Manual Therapist. She was an honorary student in India and loves to learn and explore various aspects of physical therapy by attending various workshops and seminars. Outside of work, Jane is interested in dancing and is a trained dancer in Classical Indian dance. She loves travelling and reading books. She is also keen on community service and worked as a volunteer for the Indian Red Cross Society and the Starkey Hearing Foundation, USA.

  • Monique Mugerwa BS,PTA

    Monique earned her B.S. degree in Health Sciences from Oakwood University in 2007. She then went on to complete her A.A.S degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Howard Community College in 2014. She has experience in settings that include sub acute and outpatient orthopaedics rehab. Monique enjoys performing manual techniques, when necessary to assist in patient recovery. Improving the quality of life of her patients and encouraging healthy lifestyles is her number one priority.

Glen Burnie Center

  • Eric Kaminsky, DPT, CSCS

    Eric joined Active Physical Therapy in August, 2016. He graduated from Towson University in 2013 receiving a Bachelors of Science degree for exercise physiology with a minor in business administration. After completing his undergraduate studies, Eric pursued his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. In addition, he is currently a Certified Sports and Conditioning Specialist. Eric has played soccer for over a decade and loves to play recreational basketball as well. Fitness, wellness, and nutrition are his personal interests as he is always helping friends and family achieve their goals. Eric plans on attaining his dry needling certification in the near future and continuing to obtain further certifications in orthopedic manual therapy techniques.

Waldorf Center

  • Maribel Furtado, PT

    Meribel is with company since 2002. She is the Clinical Director of our Waldorf office. She is a graduate of De La Salle University-Aguinaldo in the Philippines. Came to the United States in 1995, and has been practicing Physical Therapy ever since. Maribel is experienced in various Physical Therapy settings such as home health, pediatrics, and outpatient clinics.

  • Ankit Shah, PT, DPT, CMP

    Ankit Shah joined Active Physical Therapy in May of 2017. He graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Loma Linda University, California in March of 2017. Prior to pursuing his DPT, he earned a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy in India in 2015. Post Bachelor’s, he treated patients at a specialty hospital in India for 4 months. He is a Certified Mulligan practitioner (CMP) and has attended courses on Kinesio Taping and Sports Taping. During his bachelor’s, he has conducted research in the fields of musculoskeletal, sports and cardio-pulmonary physical therapy.
